This is an extraordinary 66 Mustang GT (65A). It currently has a professionally built strong running 302; however matching numbers 289 goes with car! It has a 4 Speed, Only 6000 miles since restoration. It has functional air scoop, CD Player, The interior is in very good condition. It has Auto-Meter Tach and Gauges, Hurst Shifter, New Custom Wheels, New Tires, New Brakes, New Exhaust, Roll Cage, All New Badges, Too Many New Things To List. There is no rust anywhere on this car. This car is very quick and yet very dependable. It sounds, looks, and runs fantastic! Other than gas, maintenance (when needed) and shined and cared for, I know of nothing this car needs. a 289 engine while on mustang .. especialy if its the original engine(numbers match up) then the car is worth more.!!!! WHY A 302… only if you end up blowing up or cracking you 289…

it runs the same…!!!! its just how the engine puts out a 289 and a 302 are almost the same. u rebuilt the 289 and your all good.. and if it doesnt’ run good then slap your self for either not installing it right in your car or who ever rebuilt the 289.

289 sounds better and is more capable of higher HP because it has a shorter stroke as well as more rpm.
Ford only made the 302 to match chevy’s 302 and its just a stoked out 289
Besides putting miles on a orginal motor doesn’t mean if they are on the car. My 289 has been rebuilt it sure the doesn’t hurt the vaule of it. I’d even put heads on it and a cam if I wasn’t fixxin to sell it to buy a house moron.
