Texas residents: What keeps you in Texas? Do you love it there?
March 3rd, 2010 | by admin |I’ve decided to leave my home of Kentucky for the state of TEXAS (or, should I say, the Republic of Texas.) I love what I’ve seen: clean roadsides–TX is the cleanest state I’ve ever been to. It’s also the friendliest, most polite state I’ve ever been to. I love the cities and small towns alike, live music and beautiful parks, great meat, infuse of Mexican culture, beaches, prairies, and (for the most part) weather.
I also know to never incite a debate about UT/A&M football, ever, if I value my life. (Luckily, I haven’t done that that.)
All answers welcomed. If you’ve also lived in or visited Kentucky, you’re welcome to compare the two states. God Bless Texas!
The weather is a big thing, if your from the north like I am, your probably sick of snow and more especially trying to do normal everyday activities and deal with snow/cold. When it snows here in Dallas everything closes. The other things you mention are also good reasons. As they say, Texas is like a whole ‘nother country.

I was born and raised in Texas there is no other state to compare to it. We love everything bigger and better. When Texas does something you can bet it is going to be the best. We have many mixed nationality’s here and lots of different personality’s. Congrats on your decision to move to the best State in the U.S

I been to Texas a couple of times. The state is okay. They are kinda behind on alot of things ie, music, style, fashion.etc. The whole dudes wearing tight jeans has to go though. I guess Tx is okay if you want to live there.

I was born in New York. I moved to Texas when I was 2. My parents were born and raised in Texas. They still live here. So does most of my family. I like how big and diverse Texas is. There are examples of every ecosystem here. And the cities are big enough to have everything you need. I love my home.

I didn’t know there was any other state besides Texas. We have it all. We are friendly. My son lives in PA. and he said up north people are not as friendly and warm. We have beaches, pine forest, lakes, bare west tx land, snow, music, theaters, sports, EVERYTHING, except for snow skiing. Gambling is next door in LA. Never been to the blue grass state. Best thing no State income tax!!!

I absolutely love it here in Texas. My job has allowed me to travel, especially around Texas and the diversity is amazing. I was born and raised in Texas and I guess you could say I am a bit biased, but it is also important to have an open mind to the different people and cultures we have here. The weather is a big reason people have come here, no state income tax is a plus, and being centrally located in the US is also a plus if you travel to either coasts. My wife is from Kentucky and was living in West Texas and absolutely hated it. We moved back to my home area (north of Dallas) and she loves it because it reminds her of Kentucky. Whatever type of situation you want you can get it here in Texas: city or rural, hot or not as hot, desert or pine forest, plains or hills… I could go on and on. I hope you find what you want in Texas and welcome!

I have to say diversity…
Anything from little hicktowns to hip cities… from country living to urban living… from F350 trucks to Ferraris… from 4000 square foot homes to 700 square foot condos… from hot humid 100 degree weather to icy cold 20 degree weather… from the dry panhandle to the gulf coast beaches… mainly Latino culture but also other nationalities… from boots and beltbuckles to designer-wear…
… and everything in between… we have it bigger, better and more often…

Born and raised in Texas. I have been all over the US and it really is true-Texans are friendly-they will help you on the roadside, open doors for you, say hello to a stranger….it’s just good to be in Texas. Sorry but I can tell when someone from the north is here-impatient, rude, don’t smile-I can just tell-most people anyway. We lived in California a couple of times for no more than a year and people would always ask if we were from Texas and they would mention how friendly us Texans are. We ARE NOT out of touch with fashion. Texas has class but can be down home jeans and flip flops too. I visited Pennsylvania once and they couldn’t believe I was from Texas because I wasn’t wearing cowboy boots and a cowboy hat-stereotypical. There is a huge diversity in Texas. Music is awesome. Texas Country is awesome. You are right Texas is very clean state. We take pride in keeping litter at a minimal-hence the quote "Don’t Mess With Texas". Texas football-Go Longhorns!!!!!, texas beer, texas trucks, texas burgers, texas food, tex-mex, texas beaches, texas rivers, parks, fiestas, festivals, rodeos, fairs, whataburger, sonic, margaritas, sunshine……….I love Texas. Austin has some of the best music in the country. I have visited Kentucky-I have family there on my grandmothers side. Kentucky is beautiful-it really looks like the grass is blue. We drove to Kentucky and I remember just looking out the window at the grass and hills and horses and beautiful old homes. I was comfortable there and the people are friendly too. You’ll feel right at home here in Texas and I wouldn’t live anywhere else. Oh and Texas Schools are great too. The one year that I lived in CA, well lets just say I felt like I was repeating a grade-they were quite behind. When I got back to Texas it was a little hard for me to get in the groove again because of the higher education in Texas schools. And you best be lookin out for Cole Deggs and the Lonesome. Cole and Shade are from my hometown-went to school with me and They’re gonna be BIG……..as everything is BIGGER and BETTER in TEXAS!!!!! Sorry if I got a little carried away!!!
